MEET ALICIA

I love to work with people who don’t just fit outside the box, but who have recycled it a long time ago.

As someone who hasn’t lead a standard issue life (does that even exist?), I love to support clients in finding healing and growth while they nurture the unique pieces that make them, them.

my vibe

Some folks have seen me teach workshops at Bass Coast Music Festival, or they’ve seen my presence in the Vancouver ballroom community; and known that whether they’re a raver, or LGBTQ2S+, we have common ground.

Others have heard from friends that if you’re a sex worker looking for a therapist, there’s relief in working with someone for whom no explanation is necessary.

When I studied counselling psychology, it was because I very much wanted to help people who, like me, had been through some shit. Therapy had made such a huge difference in my own life, and I couldn’t keep that to myself.

Within my cohort, I quickly became the go-to colleague for questions around sexuality. Kink, non-monogamy, fetishes, and fantasies, have all been familiar territory for me for a long time; I was always surprised that it wasn’t the case for everyone.

MY STORY

I became a therapist because my own experience of childhood trauma resulted in constant anxiety and depression. My world looked bleak and I didn’t see the possibility for change. Through several years of therapy, dedication to the work, and a supportive community, my life is now filled with joy and meaning. I knew that I wanted to support others because I had lived the experience of hopelessness and made it through to the other side. Every day I’m amazed at the transformation I get to witness in my clients as they work through their trauma and discover their worth.

I’m a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada and hold a diploma in Counselling Psychology. I enjoy continuing my education through professional development in trauma healing and anti-oppressive work. Before becoming a therapist I studied and shared NonViolent Communication through support groups and mediation, and taught yoga throughout Vancouver.

In my down time I enjoy adventuring outdoors with my Aussie Shepard, Chloe, who is also available to join in-person sessions upon request. In my experience, animals make great therapists.
